HB0682

Fight social media censorship - Establishes "common carrier" status.

This bill designates social media platforms as common carriers. Establishes fines against social media platforms that deplatform and shadow ban users based on political ideology, viewpoint, or personal animus, or discrimination based on race, creed, color, religion, sex, age, or national origin. Not only are social media companies the most important means by which public discussions occur, they have been used by ideologues and the government to suppress the free exchange of ideas. This is due to be taken back up in January 2024. Please call the committee members and encourage them to get HB0682 on its way to being law as soon as the legislative session begins again.
